I mostly let this wash over me. I bought it thinking it was about the full drive to Moscow, but the author splits that story in two and this is just the October period.

Nevertheless I liked it. The difference between what was being optimistically promised by people not allowing themselves to see the real situation or accurately predict what could actually be possible seems relatable.
