An interesting metaphor: handing over a project to a successor maintainer being like handing over a depleted mine - all the status has been gained for the creator, there is no status or reputation to be gained by just maintaining someone else’s creation.

Also interesting: the invention of the Facebook News Feed being one of the key moments in internet history. For the first time making everyone ‘see’ each other in one place, rather than loads of disconnected personal websites.

I also love the practice of saying ‘by all means make PRs but I’ll never merge them - I might at best use them for ideas and implement them myself'.
